SignatoriesThe Wales Health and Social Care Concordat is a voluntary agreement that builds on the collaboration which already exists between the inspecting, regulating and auditing bodies in Wales. It provides very clear opportunities for these bodies to continue to work together in a positive way to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their services, and to remove any unnecessary burdens associated with visits, collection of data and follow up. The original Concordat membership comprised full and associate signatories which differed only in the role of the organisations in terms of audit, inspection and regulation. The Concordat committed signatories to develop and implement approaches and practices in response to the Concordat objectives. The Concordat has evolved since its launch in 2005 and was reviewed in 2009/10, which led to the creation of the present Forum and a change in membership arrangements so that all participating organisations were all on an equal footing. By this time the membership had also expanded to include service improvement and development organisations. Current Members/Signatories Care Quality Commission* *The Care Quality Commission continues to be a member/signatory given the issues of cross border services. Applying to become a signatory Organisations that inspect, regulate or audit health and social care in Wales or whose work is closely associated with the principles and objectives of the Concordat can submit a request to become a signatory to the Concordat.
