Launch of Wales Concordat Information Sharing Tools

The Concordat for the Inspection, Regulation and Audit of Health and Social Care in Wales together with the Corporate Health Information Programme has developed information sharing tools that will assist signatories in making better use of information.

The Concordat Information Sharing Task and Finish Group recently completed development of tools to improve information sharing between signatory bodies and avoid duplicative information requests being made to health organisations. These tools include:

Protocol for Making Information Requests

The Protocol offers guidance on best practice when making information requests and includes an Impact Assessment Checklist. It has been designed to assist better information sharing between signatory bodies and avoid duplicative information requests being made to health organisations. The Protocol also supports the Wales Accord on the Sharing of Personal Information (WASPI).

Directory of Health and Social Care Data

This on-line Directory: http://howis.wales.nhs.uk/dhscd/ provides information on nationally aggregated health and social care data flows, including potential uses of the data and where they can be accessed. Signatories are encouraged to use the Directory to see whether the information they require is available elsewhere before making direct information requests of health organisations.
